It represents a direct challenge to fundamental principles of self-determination, international law, and respect for Indigenous peoples. History shows that such statements must be taken seriously. Time and again, military interventions and political interference have been justified with words like liberation, democracy, and security, while in reality being closely tied to control over natural resources and strategic interests. The wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, the intervention in Libya, and the prolonged pressure and interference in Venezuela are, for many, examples of how imperial ambitions can be concealed behind a moral or humanitarian smokescreen—with devastating consequences for civilian populations and national sovereignty. #GRØNLAND #KalaallitNunaat Greenland is not for sale. Greenland’s future belongs to the Greenlandic people—and to whomever they themselves choose to have bilateral relations with. My motivation for initiating demonstrations in Nuuk and Copenhagen comes from the need to show that this is not only a Danish or Greenlandic issue, but a European and international one. If we accept that powerful states can openly speak about other peoples’ territories, resources, and futures as strategic assets without consequences, we are moving in a dangerous direction. These demonstrations are not about speaking on behalf of Greenland—but about standing in solidarity with Greenland. About supporting the Greenlandic people’s right to self-determination, free from pressure, threats, or imperial ambitions. I hope many of you in this group will support this initiative, share the message, and—if possible—participate or help mobilize locally. Solidarity matters, Visibility matters.
