We are so excited to bring Thirsty Merc to the Southside Leagues Club on Sunday 13th of October
Thirsty Merc formed in Sydney in 2002 releasing their debut EP, First Work, in September 2003, before being signed to Warner Music. The band’s big break came in 2004 with the release of their debut, self-titled, album which included the hits, Someday Someday and In The Summertime (the theme for Bondi Rescue since 2006).
Three more studio albums followed - Slideshows in 2007 (#4 ARIA Album) and Mousetrap Heart in 2010 (#14 on the ARIA Album chart) which included radio staples, 20 Good Reasons, Mousetrap Heart and Tommy and Krista. Their latest release, Shifting Gears, their first wholly independent and first new material in five years, was released in 2015.
We have decided to donate 100% of the proceeds to two local charities. .
Firstly Griffith Breast Cancer Support Group who support women and men with Breast Cancer in Griffith & surrounding. They bring so much support & camaraderie to women & men as they navigate this disease from their diagnosis through to remission - what an amazing job they do in our local community!
Secondly McGrath Foundation for Pink Up Griffith. Pink Up Griffith aims to raise money for the McGrath Foundation, money which will be directly filtered back to MIA’s own McGrath Nurse Fiona Shields. Fiona provides physical, psychological and emotional support from the time of diagnosis, throughout treatment.
Supporting both these charities was a no-brainer for us at the Club, especially in the month of October when Griffith & the surrounding community get together and set out to raise money for all those affected by Breast Cancer.
Do yourself a favour, buy a ticket to Thirsty Merc for $15 and know that the entire proceeds are going to our local community!
