Mental Health First Aid Course - Griffith
This 2 day Mental Health First Aid course provides participants with the skills and knowledge to identify and respond to emerging mental health issues or mental health crisis. The course covers general mental health, depressive disorders, anxiety, psychosis and substance use as well as a number of mental health crises including suicide, panic attacks, psychosis and traumatic events. Like physical first aid the aim of the course is not to make someone a mental health professional but rather provide them with the skills to have conversations and support someone until either the crisis is resolved or the person is linked to appropriate professional supports. At the completion of the course people can complete a quiz to become an Accredited Mental Health First Aider.
This course is facilitated by Amy Salmon, a Senior Social Worker with over 12 years experience working as a counsellor and case manager with people experiencing mental health and addiction problems. Amy is passionate about providing high quality, engaging and interactive training that leaves all participants feeling confident and motivated to put what they learn into action in their own lives.
