IN A LANDSCAPE: Shore Acres State Park

For the 10th season, IN A LANDSCAPE: Classical Music in the Wild tours the American West. Mountain tops, old-growth forests, and sunny meadows replace the traditional concert hall in the series featuring pianist Hunter Noack on a 9-foot Steinway concert grand piano. Listen through wireless headphones and wander afield with the music as a soundtrack to your experience in the wild.

There are few places along America’s Pacific Coast like Shore Acres State Park with its manicured gardens and magnificent Holiday Lights show in what was once the estate of the civic-minded lumber baron and artist, Louis J. Simpson (1877-1949). What makes this Oregon State Park so unusual is the vast grassy parkland tucked against the crashing waves, the perfect setting for a 9-foot Steinway to hang at the edge of the western world.
