Date: Sunday 29 March
Time: 3–6 PM
Venue: The Nook, Shop 10/1 Diamond Street, Cooroy,
There is something quietly powerful about hearing the music of Johann Sebastian Bach in an intimate room, where every phrase breathes and the audience sits close enough to feel the resonance of bow on string.
Bach Unwrapped arrives at The Nook for a special hinterland performance as part of a boutique South East Queensland micro-tour connecting Brisbane, the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast through small halls, independent venues and community spaces.
The afternoon opens with Sunshine Coast emerging artist and violinist Nioka Downey, performing a solo movement by Bach, celebrating the next generation of musicians and providing a platform for local talent.
Headline artist Margaret Blades then takes the stage with Bach’s radiant Partita in E major for solo violin, a work of brilliance, dance and intricate beauty.
After interval, celebrated cellist Louise King performs Bach’s Suite in C major for solo cello, music of courage, joy and architectural elegance that remains a cornerstone of the cello repertoire.
To close, Margaret Blades and Louise King collaborate for an uplifting encore: Bach’s Two-Part Inventions reimagined in dialogue, alongside beloved works for violin and cello.
This is solo and chamber music returned to its roots, intimate, conversational and shared. With limited seating in this unique hinterland space, early booking is strongly encouraged.
