About the event

Christmas Through the Eyes of a Child
Step into a world of holiday wonder with the Coopersville Community Concert Band as they present their annual Christmas Concert, “Christmas through the Eyes of a Child.” The evening will also feature a special guest performance by The O.K. Choir, directed by David Inbody. This festive evening invites audiences of all ages to rediscover the magic of the season—sparkling lights, playful melodies, and the joy of music that makes you feel like a child again. Bring your imagination and your holiday spirit for an experience full of warmth, laughter, and music that dances in the air.

Under the direction of Luanne Devries and Tom Harsay, the CCCB will perform a variety of holiday favorites, including Leroy Anderson’s Sleigh Ride, JaRod Hall’s lively Toboggan, and the enchanting melodies of The Polar Express, by Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard (arr. Jerry Brubaker). Delight in the whimsical March of the Toys, by Victor Herbert (arr. Jay Wallace), paired with Leon Jessel’s Parade of the Wooden Soldiers (arr. John J. Morrissey), each piece evoking the excitement and wonder of holiday traditions. The program also includes the classic poem, The Night Before Christmas, set to music by John Moss and narrated by Tom Harsay, Albert Hague’s How The Grinch Stole Christmas (arr. Larry Clark), and Johnny Marks’ classic Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (arr. James D. Ployhar) with a dixieland band. Round out the evening with vocal soloist David Inbody as he accompanies the band in the heartwarming Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, by Hugh Martin and Ralph Blane (arr. Douglas E. Wagner), and join in a sing-along with the band and choir in Leroy Anderson’s A Christmas Festival. As a grand finale, the band and choir will welcome audience members to join them on stage for a powerful, full-ensemble sing-along of Handel’s beloved Hallelujah Chorus, all performed with energy, joy, and a touch of holiday magic.

A highlight of the concert will be an invitation for audience members to join the band on stage and sing along with the Hallelujah Chorus, giving everyone—from the youngest to the young at heart—a chance to become part of the music and create lasting holiday memories.

Be sure to mark your calendar for a fun evening of music on Monday night, December 8, starting at 7:30 PM. Doors open at 7:15 PM. Concert will be held at the Centerstage Theater within Coopersville High School.

Admission is free, and everyone is welcome to attend.

The band is 70 members strong and rehearses in the Coopersville Middle School Band Room on Monday nights from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The group covers expenses through generous donations from community members and grants from local organizations. Thank you for supporting the arts in Coopersville and helping bring the joy of music to the community! Visit https://coopersvilleccb.org/ for more information about the band.
