Join Birds of the Snowy Monaro for a hands-on morning exploring how plants shape the lives of our local birds!

From Thornbills darting through Wattles to Rosellas feasting in Eucalypts, every species has its favourite food, nesting nook, and foraging spot. Learn how habitat structure, plant choices, and even garden weeds influence which birds you’ll find in your backyard or bushland.

Our November event focuses on habitat, weeds, and wildlife-friendly gardening — helping you understand:
? Which birds forage in which types of plants
? How woody weeds affect bird diversity
? What to plant (and what to pull out!) to support native species year-round

Whether you’re a keen birder, new to nature, or planning to make your garden a little wilder, this session will give you practical, science-based insights to take home.

We’ll also complete a Birdata survey together to record the birds on site and contribute to national citizen science.

? What to Bring
- Hat, water, and sturdy shoes
- Binoculars if you have them (a few spares available)
- Smartphone with Birdata app if you'd like to record a survey (or assist group leader)
- Notebook or camera
- A sense of curiosity and community spirit!
