We have lost almost 9,000 acres of crop land in Horry County alone to development since 2020. Everyone loves traditional row crop agriculture, but the only way it makes a living is by farming lots of acres. Low profit margins and more more acres mean more risk. We have a unique situation in our area because of the following: 1) We still have plenty of farmland, 2) We have more local consumer than we've ever had, and 3) There's not much that we can't grow in our climate and soils.
