Join me on a 11-mile (18km) walk from the little village of Elterwater in the Southern Lake District. This is a great route with a chance to bag 3 of the smaller Wainwrights (all under 400m height) whilst also enjoying more lowland terrain using some spectacular lakeside and woodland paths.
We will take a lowland route along the Great Langdale Beck passing the impressive Skelwith Force waterfall. From there we begin our ascent up to our first of 3 Wainwrights, Park Fell and continue on to Black Crag before reaching the scenic Tarn Hows, which may be a good place for a little rest. The third Wainwright, Holme Fell is reached after we a steep climb through woodland. Our return route is a pretty, scenic and gentle route through Little Langdale.
Compared with most of our Lake District walks, this is a relatively easy route, but please note that it does still have a total elevation of and has some steep climbs 2,230ft / 680m , so a good level of fitness is required. This walk is rated as MODERATE.
As with all Abigail's Trails events, this will be led by a professional, qualified Mountain Leader, who will support and encourage you throughout. We specialise in small-group guided walks, so places are limited and must be booked in advance. This walk is £20 per person.
Well behaved, friendly dogs are welcome, but will need to be on leads for a lot of the route due to livestock. They must also be agile or small enough to get over stiles easily. Please note there is one high ladder stile, which may pose an issue for larger dogs.
Please ensure you have read and agreed to our Terms and Conditions and GDPR Privacy Notice prior to booking.
Further instructions and kit list will be emailed to you before the date.
Children aged 10+ are welcome.
