Old Man of Coniston Day Hike Lake District by Adventure Solos

The Old Man of Coniston, is a 802m high hill (or 'fell') in the Lake District, Cumbria, England.

'Old Man' is believed to come from “Alt Maen” meaning “High Stone” in Norse, and Coniston was “Konig's Tun” or King’s Farm (so High Stone of King's Farm).
​
The circular route we follow is 7 miles (11km) and takes an estimated 7 hours.
We walk at a steady pace for this hike, after which we visit a local pub for a chat and refreshing drink. A moderate/good level of fitness will allow you to complete the walk and ascents.
