- **Event Description**: Concordia, we have a lot to celebrate!! Our great nation will celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. In addition, our great little town was designated as the Patriotic Mural City of Missouri in August of last year!

The City of Concordia is sponsoring a patriotic theater production of “We The People” to kick off this celebration. Performances will be held on June 12th and 13th at the Community Center. 

Concordia Main Street will be presenting “We The People: Patriotic Hearts, Hometown Spirit." We’re inviting all residents and businesses to help celebrate by creating a patriotic display in your yard, on your porch, or any other unique creative idea you may have. Let’s paint our town in red, white, and blue this summer. This will be a wonderful opportunity to bring many visitors to town to take in the sights and benefit local businesses as well.

City maps designating the location of each display will be on hand at local businesses. To get your location listed, fill out the registration form which will be available soon. Registering your display will automatically enter you into a patriotic decorating contest.

The contest will include several different judging categories. Entries must be displayed by Flag Day, June 14th and remain until at least July 4th. We anticipate this to be a tourism attraction for all to come and take in the sights of the displays, as well as the eight patriotic murals painted by the 2026 Missouri Artist of the Year, Ray Harvey.

So, get your thinking hats on and your creative imagination to work. There are no limits to what you can do… make it simple or make it as elaborate as you want. If you don’t wish to enter your display, we encourage you to still show your patriotism by simply displaying an American flag on your property.

Voting will take place online from June 14th until July 1st. There will be some fun activities thrown in for the kids throughout the contest. The contest winners will be announced at Central Park following a 4th of July Parade at 10am. Light refreshments
will be provided and goodie bags handed out to children attending.

The final opportunity to celebrate before the Fall Festival, will be the tractor cruise following the Farm to City Event on July 19th. Tractor drivers will be asked to add a little red, white, and blue to their machinery as they parade down main.
