In the late 1950s, their paths converged at a pivotal moment—not only in their own development, but in the evolution of the music itself.Together in Miles Davis’s legendary sextet, Miles and Coltrane stood at the crossroads between the driving language of hard bop and the emerging freedom of modal Jazz. On recordings such as Milestones and Kind of Blue, dense chord changes increasingly gave way to open harmonic spaces, creating room for a new kind of improvisation. Miles responded with economy, lyricism, and space. Coltrane pushed in another direction, filling that space with searching lines, harmonic intensity, and an ever-expanding musical vocabulary.Their convergence helped open a door. Miles would continue exploring space, sound, and reinvention, while Coltrane would push toward greater harmonic, rhythmic, and spiritual freedom. What began on a shared bandstand became two distinct journeys that would transform the course of modern Jazz.Join The Muse Jazz Collective as we celebrate 100 years of Miles and Trane—and the enduring power of Jazz to bring different voices together, create new possibilities, and awaken beauty, love, and justice in the world.THE COLLECTIVE: We're here to empower a new generation of Jazz lovers and musicians to awaken beauty, love, and justice through interactive Jazz experiences that train us to become better listeners, mentors, and advocates.THERE ARE TWO CONCERTS ON SUNDAY NOVEMBER 8:The first concert starts at 5:30 PM and the second concert starts at 7:30 PM.Each concert will be at the Vineyard and will be 90 minutes of iconic music.
