CCLA photography entries must be printed on an 8x10 photo paper as well as emailed to YW1hbmRhICEgZGVheCB8IGFnICEgdGFtdSAhIGVkdQ==.
.Division: PHOTOGRAPHY
Photos for competition will be accepted in the Comanche County Extension Office from Dec 6th until Dec 16th from 9-12 AM and 1-5 PM. No late entries will be accepted.
Entries must be emailed to YW1hbmRhICEgZGVheCB8IGFnICEgdGFtdSAhIGVkdQ== in jpeg or pdf form in addition to being printed.
***NEW**They will no longer need to be mounted or have hangers.
The purpose of the Photography Contest is to promote the interests and talents of youth photographers to the visitors of CCLA. Photos may be taken with a film or digital camera

Acceptable Photographs
1. This division is open to Junior Youth (3rd – 8th grade) and Senior Youth (9th – 12th grade), and to PeeWee ages K-2.
2. Although slight computer enhanced photos are allowed, such as crop, trimming, adjusting lighting, and red eye reduction; substantially altered photography, such as changing colors, applying design styles, or using computer graphics will disqualify an entry. Digital photos converted to black and white with a computer is permitted. Any help given to the student by parents or teachers should be age appropriate and limited to helping the exhibitor learn to use the program. At the Senior level the exhibitor should be the only person manipulating the photo. The point is to learn to TAKE a good photo, not to CREATE a good photo with technology.
3. Photography will be judged on creativity, originality and quality of work.
4. Printing and Mounting of photos. Photos will no longer be required to be mounted. A printed 8x10 photo will be submitted with the entry slip taped to the back of the photo. Plain paper photos or copies of photos will not be accepted.
5. All entries must be 8 x 10-inch prints. Nothing smaller or larger than 8 x 10 will be accepted. No photo should be framed, matted, or have anything attached to the front of the photo. The CCLA Entry Slip must be attached to the back of the photo and not visible when looking at the photograph itself.
6. Each exhibitor may enter three photographs per class for a total of 9 entries. Entries in which the entry fee has not been paid while not be judged or exhibited.
7. All photographs should be the work of a single exhibitor and taken between the day after the previous county livestock show and the submission date.
8. Photographs should not contain “user placed text” This includes things such as comments or titles. Text or wording that is part of the photograph (i.e. photo of a street sign, etc.) is acceptable.
9. Surface finish (glossy or matte) of the photograph is the choice of the exhibitor.
Copyright and Content
1. Photos that are deemed obscene, vulgar, sexually-oriented, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violate any laws are strictly prohibited. CCLA respects the rights related to copyright laws and intellectual property. All photos should be based on a contestant’s original photograph taken by the contestant. Use of a photo from other sources/people without permission is not allowed and will lead to disqualification of the photo and possibly all entries by the contestant. CCLA reserves the right to refuse inappropriate or unsuitable entries.
2. Any contestant submitting a photograph acknowledges that they have sufficient permission of any recognizable locations or people appearing in their photograph(s). This permission is hereby granted to both the photographer and CCLA to publish and use as needed. Documentation should be retained by the contestant and will be requested by CCLA if needed.
DIVISION PHOTOGRAPHY:
CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
CLASS 1: Animals – Domestic & Wildlife
Animals – Domestic Or Wildlife: Photos focusing on the various animals that have been tamed and made fit for a human environment or animals not tamed or domesticated and commonly found in the wild throughout the country and world. To be considered domesticated, the animal must have their behavior, life cycle, or physiology systemically altered as a result of being under human control for many generations. Wildlife photos include animals in nature, zoos, and/or petting zoos. Examples include: Dog, Sheep, Pig, Goat, & Cow, Deer, snakes, insects, rodents, elephants, fish etc.
CLASS 2: Landscape & Nature
Landscape: Scenes of landscapes, outdoor scenes, urban landscapes, seascapes, skyscapes (sunsets, clouds, etc.) or underwater scenes.
CLASS 3. PEOPLE
Please get permission to photograph any and all individuals for this category.
You may be asked to provide a signed release from the individual. This category includes babies, families, kids, portraits, models/fashion, and/or any photo that includes a person doing any activity so long as it is appropriate.
Judges:
Independent Judges will be volunteers selected from the professional photography industry. Judges will determine placings and their decisions will be final. The best effort to use an impartial judge will be made.
