Uncommon First Aid: A Narcan/Street Skills Workshop
This workshop is produced by YPR Columbus in collaboration with Billie Hecate Stafford and Narcan Training Columbus, Ohio
Do you know what to do if someone is overdosing from opioid use? What about if someone has been shot? In a car accident?
The answer for most of us is to call 911 and wait for EMTs to arrive. Since seconds count, what can the average person without a medical background do until help is able to get there?
Come join YPR Columbus for an afternoon of skill-sharing aimed at building knowledge and confidence in your ability to help. There are no pre-requisites and no prior knowledge is needed.
Participants will receive training in how and when to administer narcan/naloxone when encountering opioid overdose, and will take home a kit that fits easily inside a bag or purse so that it can be on hand any time you are out and about.
Light food and drink will be provided, and will include vegan and gluten-free options. A nominal participation fee of $10 is requested of those who can afford to pay, and will be used to cover facility rental costs, materials, and refreshments.
All YPR Chapter members will have their participation fee covered, and we are committed to making this workshop accessible to everyone, regardless of ability to pay. Please get in touch! Likewise, if you are able to contribute more to cover the cost of someone else’s entry fee, please let us know!
