Join Friends of Stillwater County Library once a week at community centers in Reed Point, Park City, Rapelje, Fishtail and Absarokee for Storytime, activities and more. Aimed for ages 4-12 (but all ages are welcome to attend.) See below for locations and schedule:

Sawyer Ott Memorial Park, Reed Point MT: Mondays at 10 am

Park City Community Center, Park City MT: Mondays at 10 am

Stockman Cafe, Rapelje MT: Wednesdays at 1 pm

Hanna Hall Fishtail Community Center, Fishtail MT: Thursdays at 11:30 am

Absarokee Lending Library, Absarokee MT: Thursdays at 1 pm

Week 1 (June 1-4): Geology
Montana isn’t called “the treasure state” for nothing!  Montana is rich in geologic history. Explore sedimentary, igneous, and metamorphic with real rocks and sparkling minerals from the state of Montana. We will have an ultraviolet light to discover fluorescent minerals, and will look at agate, sapphires, gold, and more from the Museum of the Rockies. Week 2 (June 8-11): Dinosaurs
Engage early scientists, artists, and outdoor lovers alike with fossil casts, coloring pages, posters, and paleontology field kits. We will get a taste for the wonder of paleontology and the massive scale of the animals that once roamed Makoshika State Park in Montana. Week 3 (June 15-18): Montana History
Join us on an expedition through history!  The Lewis and Clark Expedition spent more time in Montana than any other state, covering over 1,000 miles of the Missouri River.  They encountered grizzly bears and traversed the rugged Rocky Mountains.  Learn about the Lewis and Clark and the Native Peoples they met with hands on materials and activities from the Western Heritage Museum. Week 4 (June 22-25): Wiggly Worms
What creature has no legs, eyes or skeleton, can live up to 10 years and consumes its own weight daily? Explore the world of wiggly worms!  These small but mighty invertebrates are an important part of decomposition, turning soil and increasing nutrients to forests and gardens.
