Let’s Talk: Communities and Conversation is a community-centered event designed to support professionals and community members seeking education, dialogue, and resources related to substance use, addiction, and mental illness. This gathering creates a welcoming space for learning, open conversation, healing, and connection. Participants will hear from professionals and individuals with lived experience while gaining practical tools and resources that can be applied in professional settings and within the broader community long after the event concludes.
This event also serves as a kickoff to MACC’s broader initiative, The Right Conversation, which aims to strengthen how communities and professionals approach discussions around substance use and mental health with compassion, clarity, and confidence.

• Caregivers seeking tools for understanding and support
• Providers, professionals, and partners who work in behavioral health
Info: Attendees will engage in a warm, community-oriented program featuring:
Welcome & Opening
• Introductions and guided engagement activity
• Brief remarks on the importance of addressing substance use within the community.
Educational Segment
• A short, accessible overview of key signs and patterns related to Substance Use Disorder
• Integrated video elements from WellLink’s “Igniting Compassion” 2023 Documentary
Panel Conversation
A moderated discussion with:
• Therapists and behavioral health professionals
• Franklin Co. Health Officials
• A subject matter expert from a local treatment or recovery organization
• A community member with lived experience
Topics may include:
• Understanding professional, community, and family impacts
• Approaches for compassionate communication
• Supporting recovery and resilience
Followed by audience Q&A.
Info: Participants will have time to visit vendor tables offering:
• Local behavioral health and recovery services
• Support for caregivers and families
• Take-home materials and strategies from The Right Conversation campaign
• Access to Naloxone kits and a brief overview on usage
Resources & Take-Home Materials
Attendees will receive:
• The Right Conversation brochures and talking-tip guides
• Local resource lists for family support
• MACC purple care bags with materials provided by participating vendors
