We'll start with idea generation before giving the students the tools to begin to write their own sketches. Then, we will discuss and engage with what makes a good sketch, and methods of editing our own and eachother's sketches so we can make the best sketches we can. This is a 4-week course. Classes will take place on Saturdays, October 3rd - 24th, from 3-5 PM. Note class on October 17th, will take place 12 - 2 PM. About the Instructor: James Wagner has been doing sketch comedy since 2015, where he was a co-founder and president of "Backburner Sketch Comedy" at OSU. After leaving, he joined "Actual Wolves", another local sketch group with a focus on both stage and video sketch, including performances at Fort Wayne Comedy Festival and New York Sketchfest. In 2023, he joined "Hot People Near You", Hashtag's sketch house team. IMPORTANT INFOPlease enroll at least a week before the class begins. Courses that do not meet the instructor-set course minimum by the week before the start date may be at risk of cancellation. Please email our Director of Curriculum if you intend to enroll but cannot until the days before the course begins.Age requirement: 19-119 welcome!If the course is cancelled, tuition will be refunded.Students must abide by Hashtag Comedy’s community guidelines to remain in good standing within our educational programs.PARKING: Students may park in the back of the Hashtag Theater space when spots are available.
