Struggling independent bookseller Kathleen (Meg Ryan) and corporate bookstore magnate Joe (Tom Hanks) are at odds as booksellers in real life but online, the two of them have long been engaged in an intimate relationship on a chatroom anonymously. When Kathleen’s business becomes threatened by Joe’s, their real lives begin to bleed into their digital lives. This screening will be preceded by a presentation from Kale Monk, Associate Professor in the Department of Human Development and Family Science at the University of Missouri.

Dr. Monk’s presentation, “ "Swipe Me Off My Feet:" Dating in the Digital Age,” will describe the statistics behind online dating, what people look for in prospective partners online, as well as the advantages and disadvantages that come with dating in the digital age.
