2019 Medieval Manuscripts Symposium
“Meetings with Remarkable Manuscripts”
lecture by Christopher de Hamel
Over the course of a long career at Sotheby’s auction house in London, Christopher de Hamel has studied more illuminated manuscripts than any person alive. In 2000 he was appointed Donnelley Fellow Librarian at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, where he oversaw one of the most important international collections of early manuscripts.
At UofSC he will be speaking on his recent prize-winning book, Meetings with Remarkable Manuscripts, which describes his personal encounters with the world’s most celebrated medieval manuscripts.
