Introduction To Mediation: Spring 2020_Rescheduled
Introduction to Mediation is a four Saturdays training session offering 30-hours of instruction in the process of mediation, the use of negotiation, and how to apply advanced communication skills to help people resolve their differences. Participants will explore the skill of separating the problem from the person and the problem from individuals' positions and places the focus on the problem instead of the person(s).

The training will examine a variety of conflict resolutions and preventive techniques through an interactive process designed to engage multiple learning styles - lectures, group discussion, hands-on exercises, role-play and mediation simulation practices.
Whether you want to improve your communication skills or become a volunteer mediator at Midlands, this training will give you the tools you need to start managing conflict in a peaceful, productive and practical way.

Those who are interested in serving as a MMC volunteer mediator need to complete an additional 10 hours of "lab" observation and co-mediation. A MMC volunteer mediator application is available after the classroom portion.
Training is led by MMC's Executive Director, Kabrina Bass., and a cast of guest presenters.
