Free Bikes 4 Kidz now has 13 affiliates including Maryland.Maryland resultsFree Bikes 4 Kidz Maryland is an all-volunteer, independent affiliate of the nationals Free Bikes 4 Kidz organization. We were founded in 2019, and in that first year, we invested collected 513 bicycles and gave away 492 of them to local children in need.Since then, our collections have grown, our volunteers have stepped up the pace, and we’ve given away thousands of bikes. In 2025 we collected 3,463 bikes and gave away 3,278. Our seven-year total has grown to over 16,300 bikes collected, and volunteers have spent over 29,000 hours refurbishing and giving away over 15,400 of them to children and nonprofit organizations, almost all of them in Maryland.Our methodWe carry out a ten-week campaign every year: We collect bikes until early October, spend ten weeks cleaning and refurbishing them using volunteers, and then we give them away in December to children identified by local social service agencies and nonprofit partners.
