The Psychology and Neuroscience of Art
Artist and MICA art instructor Duane Lutsko will facilitate a presentation and discussion on the idea that research in psychology and neuroscience supports the significance of the whole brain practice of art.The mind is a meaning-making machine - constantly interpreting events, creating narratives, and devising theories. This session will lay groundwork for a dialogue around understanding some of the psychological, social-behavioral, and neural-scientific features of brain function as they relate to personal narratives, memory, art, and creativity.
This session is perfect for anyone interested in understanding and sharing the impact of art and creativity on whole brain / holistic development. Goals and benefits:• understand creativity as a wellness practice• embrace a growth mindset• challenge cultural and personal assumptions• understand ambiguity as the meaning making capacity of art• promote mindful reflection
Ages 14 and up.
