Auditions for HENDERSON BROS. BURLESQUE
WHAT'S LOVE? and TRUSTUS THEATRE present AUDITIONS for HENDERSON BROTHERS BURLESQUE.
What: Auditions for HENDERSON BROS. BURLESQUE
When: Sunday - November 4th, 6pm
Where: Southeastern School Of Ballet (220 Business Park Blvd.Columbia,SC 29203)
Looking for MALE and FEMALE dancers for a contemporary Neo-Burlesque show, with imaginative throw-backs to traditional Burlesque of the Minsky-Era. There will be NO full nudity - pasties will be the furthest we go. This show is about performer empowerment, seduction, and tease - NOT exploitation or graphic sexuality.
Choreographer and Emcee TERRANCE HENDERSON will be conducting auditions for dancers over 18 years of age and with experience in jazz, funk, hip-hop, street dance or strip tease.
Dancers should come prepared to dance a brief free style individually as well as two choreographed combinations that will be taught then performed in groups. There will be cameras around (to document the process for future use) so look hip and sexy. Ladies may wear pumps, boots, etc as long as they don't damage the marley dance floor.
Auditions will be held at Southeastern School of Ballet on Sunday November 4th at 6:00pm. Studio will be open at 5:00 for dancers to warm-up, stretch etc. Think MTV style dance, no prepared solos necessary, looking for precision of choreography and lots of personality and good sense of personal style – and most importantly the ability to HAVE FUN!
Rehearsal dates: scheduled by cast availability November -February
Performance dates: Valentines Day, February 14th 2013 (2 evening shows)
MORE INFO: Director Chad Henderson and Actor/Choreographer Terrance Henderson have been plotting a definitive Burlesque show for Columbia audiences for years now - one that has a little something for EVERYONE. This show will be performed twice on Valentine's Day 2013, and its a BENEFIT FOR TRUSTUS THEATRE. The show will feature a live rock band complete with a horn section, featured burlesque acts, ensemble acts (A La Crazy Horse), as well as a clown/funnyman who keeps the laughs coming.
If you have any interest in being a part of the show, but you aren't comfortable being part of the performing troupe - we can talk about other ways you can be involved. Perhaps you'd like to be a cigarette/cigar seller? Perhaps you can lift crazy amounts of weight? Maybe you can play the recorder with your nose? Either way, there might be a place for you at the show or during our "sideshow" pre-show.
