All four chapters feature a combination of monthly and annual events and either host or participate in various annual conferences. The Colorado Springs Chapter (ISSA-COS) averages 350 – 400 active members with additional support and collaboration coming from over two dozen area organization; what we refer to as Community Partners. ISSA-COS also enjoys the benefits provided from formally recognized Strategic Partners and various Chapter Sponsors. Our chapter meets monthly with presentations and information of interest to security professionals. We also host two nationally attended symposiums: the Cyber Focus Symposium held in the Spring and the Peak Cyber Symposium held in the fall. Other events hosted by ISSA-COS include two annual CompTIA Security+ Reviews, an annual (ISC)2© CISSP Review, an annual Special Interest Group (SIG) Summit, and the annual ISSA-COS STAR Awards. We offer all these events (and many others) throughout the year to help our members obtain and maintain their cybersecurity industry certifications.Our Chapter was honored to be named the ISSA Chapter of the Year for 2005, 2008, 2017, and again in 2021. Our members consistently win ISSA International-levels awards, many of which are listed below. In 2017, Dr. Shawn Murray became the second ISSA international director from our Chapter. ​Additionally, many Colorado Springs Chapter members have received individual ISSA International recognition. To do this we provide scholarships and negotiate discounts to security training and education events in the region. Our chapter is also committed to advancing the information security field in Colorado, particularly along the Front Range. We work with institutions of higher education from Ft. Collins to Pueblo. Our chapter is also working with other local universities toward including security courses and conferences in their offerings.The Colorado Springs chapter has an international reach. One member is active in working in South America, speaking at universities and other venues about information security, while helping establish ISSA chapters in those countries.
