This first-of-its-kind tour in the Colorado Springs offers a rare opportunity to explore preserved and carefully renovated interiors and exteriors.✦ About the Homes ✦This self-guided driving tour will lead you through multiple neighborhoods with fantastic mid-century modern architecture: Skyway, The Broadmoor, and the Colorado Springs Country Club neighborhood. Colorado Springs modernist homes are spread all over town from the Valley Hi Golf Course up to Monument. The highlighted neighborhoods have a higher concentration of mid-century modern homes than others but still display a variety of styles from the era. As granddaughter of famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright, Elizabeth Wright Ingraham’s (especially early) work has been heavily influenced by her grandfather. She has chosen Colorado Springs as her home for most of her life and designed over 150 buildings in town. We are proud to be able to show one of her designs done during the time of Ingraham & Ingraham, the architecture firm owned by her and her husband during the 1950s.Architect and builder Don Price has built over 100 homes alone in the Skyway neighborhood including some of the most spectacular modernist homes in Colorado Springs. His architectural signature is clear and recognizable to anyone who has visited a few of his buildings in the area. While one home on the tour provides the original building plans by Don Price, the style and design features of a time capsule home suggest his involvement.Walter S. White is mainly known for his buildings in Palm Springs and other cities in California, but he did reside and work for quite some time in Colorado Springs! We have curated a garden tour of a Japanese inspired home by him right in between the Colorado Springs Country Club and the popular Palmer Park. Don’t miss this highlight!✦ About the Tour Curator ✦Anne-Kathrin has made the beautiful town of Colorado Springs her home after her husband’s military assignment initially brought her here. After growing up and living in Germany for over 30 years and working as a fashion designer as well as a sales agent in the fashion and beauty industry, Anne-Kathrin has now made real estate her career of choice. Her love for design of past decades continues to grow as she specializes in mid-century modern and historic properties in the Pikes Peak area as well as Pueblo.One of her goals is to educate the public about the beauty of these properties and help preserve the architectural integrity of modernist homes, which brought her to Docomomo US/Colorado.✦ Accessibility ✦The home tours involve walking on sidewalks, pavement, landscaping, and traversing steps to enter certain homes. ✦ Parking & Meeting Location ✦ There is street parking available, please be conscious of resident’s driveways.
