For the first time in Cologne, join Alon Ritter for a unique Contact Improvisation workshop exploring decentralized movement, fluid intelligence, and full-body awareness. Inspired by the nervous system of the octopus, this workshop invites you to soften the dominance of the thinking mind and awaken the intelligence of the whole body. Through movement exploration, touch, and improvisation, we will discover a way of moving that is fluid, responsive, grounded, and deeply connected. The Practice — Discover Your Inner Octopus What happens when movement is no longer directed only from the head? We will explore the idea of “Octopus Consciousness” — allowing the head to become just another expressive limb, while the whole body becomes capable of sensing, initiating, and responding. Rather than controlling movement from the top down, we’ll practice moving from the center outward — letting impulses travel through the body in all directions, like tentacles extending through water. What to Expect Decentralized Awareness Shift from mental control toward embodied sensing, awakening the intelligence of the whole nervous system. Fluidity Beyond Structure Explore soft, adaptive, liquid movement and smooth transitions inspired by the octopus in water. Moving from the Center Shift the center of awareness from the head toward the pelvis and core, discovering how movement can radiate outward through the limbs. Responsive Contact Improvisation Discover new possibilities for listening, weight-sharing, communication, and spontaneous flow in dance. ALON RITTER Alon Ritter is a teacher of Contact Improvisation, somatic dance, tango, and Con-Tango. As a second-generation Feldenkrais practitioner, his work is deeply rooted in somatic practice, embodiment, and trauma-informed teaching. For more than 15 years, Alon has been teaching internationally, bringing together movement, touch, improvisation, and relational awareness in a grounded and sensitive way.
