During Prohibition, Elks Lodges were forbidden from serving alcohol.Sometimes a lodge could serve near beer so long as it held less than 1% alcohol. One lodge had some in reserve for a private dinner; the near beer was confiscated and found to have 3% alcohol. As punishment, the lodge was shuttered for 6 months by the Grand Exalted Ruler.To celebrate the 100th Anniversary of a lodge surviving the almost sale of near beer, we are hosting our very own speakeasy as a fundraiser for the lodge.309 Westies is listing this Event to help our event home.
