Learn a routine, dance to old-school bangers. Every ticket = a friend free.About this EventWhen was the last time you went out just to dance? Not dinner. Not drinks that finish at 9.30. Dancing.ELEVATE presents BANGERS ONLY is a beginner dance class and dance party in Northcote, for women who remember when a night out meant a going-out top, Vodka Cruisers and a pile of handbags in the middle of the dancefloor. On Wednesday 23 September we're bringing some of that back. What actually happens? You arrive at High Note in Northcote. Our choreographer teaches a short routine from scratch, no prior dance experience. Our DJ plays on the decks throughout. Early 2000s and 2010s pop, house, and certified scream-the-lyrics bangers. The songs you already know every word to. The ones that sent the whole club running back to the floor.Bring your bestie for free. One ticket, two people. Dancing is better shared, and the friend you've been meaning to catch up with for three months is the one who needs a good dance too.Add her name at checkout, or send it through afterwards. Is this for you?If you haven't danced properly in years. If your nights out now involve dinner reservations rather than dancefloors. If you need a few hours where nobody needs anything from you and your only job is to have fun.Yes. Very much so.Why dancing?A 2024 meta-analysis found that dance matched or outperformed other forms of exercise for improving mood and emotional wellbeing.Learning choreography occupies the thinking brain, so it stops the loop. Familiar music shortcuts you into a memory of yourself. And doing it in a room with other people amplifies the whole thing. It's not magic. It's your nervous system responding to music, movement and other people. We built the night around exactly that.Good to knowBeginner level.
