The Colleyville Garden Club will have its next meeting on January 14 at the Colleyville Center. Check-in/Social time will begin at 9:30 am and the meeting starts at 10:00 am. Texas Master Gardener Rick Helm will share information about Earth-Kind Landscaping, a comprehensive approach to working with our natural resources to create sustainable landscapes that require less inputs (water, fertilizer, pesticides) than traditional landscapes.

Rick Helm holds state advanced certifications in Earth-Kind landscaping and Tree Care & Maintenance. He is a TCU Silver Frogs instructor on horticultural topics, and a regular contributor to the TCU Silver Streak quarterly magazine. His degrees and certificates include studies in Nutrition, Restaurant Management, Biblical Studies, Finance & Leadership. He was employed as an executive with Brunswick Corporation and Main Event Entertainment for 27 years, where he oversaw 150+ family entertainment locations and 4,000+ team members.

After leaving Main Event in 2007, he opened a consulting company and was also part owner of 2 family entertainment centers in Central Texas. He retired from paid work/ownership in 2023 and now is fully committed to his passion for gardening, especially growing food in urban & suburban settings. Rick has been married for 45 years to Donna and has 3 children and 5 grandchildren.
