- **Event Description**: Join Palouse Conservation District for the January Soil Health Breakfast on Thursday, January 9th, 2025 from 7-9 am at The Center in Colfax (attached to the library - 110 S Main St, Colfax, WA 99111). Enjoy coffee and breakfast as you learn about the soil health practices that your fellow producers are implementing on their operations. This event is intended as a peer-to-peer learning opportunity for local farmers and ranchers. We will also hear from Craig Kincaid on organic wheat production and livestock integration on cover crops.

In his talk, Craig will share his journey of transitioning to organic farming. Starting with 40 acres in 2021, Craig and his family harvested their first organic wheat crop in 2023. Since then, they have expanded their organic acreage and integrated yearling cattle grazing on cover crops. Craig will discuss the challenges, rewards, and lessons learned from moving towards organic practices and how it has impacted both the farm’s sustainability and productivity.

About our speaker:
Craig Kincaid is a local farmer from the Pullman/Colfax area with deep roots in the Palouse region. After graduating from Washington State University in 2007, he began farming and has since cultivated an operation focused on wheat, canola, and pulses. Craig has always sought ways to differentiate his farm from conventional commodity crops and has been dedicated to exploring innovative agricultural practices.
