- **Event Description**: Guided visits to three Lincolnshire Cliff Edge Churches at Harmston, Coleby and Boothby Graffoe and Boothby Hall.About this EventThis event is organised by the Society for History & Archaeologyand led by Nick Moore and Rob Wheeler.Meet at the Tempest Arms, Coleby at 10.00am for coffee and biscuits.The morning will include visits to All Saint’s Church Harmston and All Saint’s Church, Coleby.The church at Harmston is Grade II * Listed with a Romanesque tower. The nave and chancelwere rebuilt in 1712 and again in 1868. There are two grand monuments and an interestinggravestone to John Willson showing the Dunston Pillar. The impressive church at Coleby hasan early tower, crocheted spire with flying buttresses and pinnacles with a Norman arch to thetower, there is a Norman north aisle arcade and late Norman font. The church was restored in 1864.1.00pm. Return to the Tempest Arms in Coleby for lunchAfter lunch, the group will visit St Andrews Church, at Boothby Graffoe. The Church was completely rebuilt in 1842 by Lincoln architect William Adams Nicholson who created a neat archaeologically correct gothic church.This will be followed by a tour of Boothby Graffoe Hall (by kind invitation of Mr and Mrs Henry Ruddock)This was a large house with parkland and splendid views over the Witham and Trent valleys, designed by the Lincoln architects Bellamy and Hardy in 1867 for C.E Marfleet. It fell into disrepair during the 2nd World War and was remodelled and reduced in size in 1952. Many interesting decorative features of the original house survive.Admission includes coffee, lunch and donations to the churches.
