While in this session we will be using portraits as the focus of our art, you have the freedom to explore, play, and break the rules of traditional portrait styles. Adelaide, who is facilitating the session, will guide you through the materials available for you to use. Throughout the session Adelaide will offer guidance, suggestions and encouragement.When creating portraits, there can be a focus on ‘getting it right’ – such as proportions, aiming for realism, and this can distract us from the joy of creating art. When we embrace abstract art, we can let go of rules, expectations, and the need for it to be perfect. For this session there will be template guides for you to use and examples of patterns for you to use to build up your mandala. If you have any supplies you would like to use, you are welcome to bring them along with you. Tea and coffee are available throughout the session free of change. This session is open to all adults (18+) only. Reclaim Art Tribe sessions are LGBTQIA+, disability, neurodiverse and mental health inclusive – every adult is welcome here. The area we will be in is located on the ground floor, and there is a disabled toilet available for use. Please reach out if you have any accessibility needs or questions.
