In this month's workshop you'll cut and sew a one of a kind tote bag perfect for the gym, groceries, or carrying craft supplies. Sip and Sew isn’t about perfection or fancy projects. It’s about building confidence, learning the basics, and having fun while you do it.During this relaxed, social workshop, you’ll learn:Sewing machine basics and safe operationHow to sew load bearing seams, different stitches, and troubleshoot common issuesHow to attach secure handlesPocket making skills that transfer to other sewing skills like patching, mending, and simple repairsPlus suggestions for how to work with fabric scraps and upcycle what you already haveYou’ll have the option to use provided materials or bring some fabric from home you’d like to repurpose. Each registration includes the materials and instruction to make one project. Beverages are not provided, but registrants may bring their own. Registrants are also encouraged to bring their own sewing machines if possible. A few machines will be available for communal use if needed. Standard size 80/12 or similar cotton-friendly needle and presser foot recommended for machines.Meet the InstructorKaitlyn Beyers has been sewing for decades, originally starting out by making her own cosplay garb, and moving more recently into design and everyday essentials. While she is a student Kaitlyn also teaches sewing classes to children ages 7 to 18, motivating the next generation of makers.
