- **Event Name**: Moorforge Session - May Day at the Craft Festival
- **Event Start and End Date**: Sat, 02 May, 2026 at 08:00 pm – Sun, 03 May, 2026 at 01:00 am (+01:00)
- **Event Description**: A folk session in a viking longhouse! The perfect accompaniment to the Moorforge Craft Festival: join us round the fire for music, stories and song. Any style, any time period!

The site reopens at 19.30, with music starting around 20.00 and going on into the wee small hours. All are welcome to play, sing, speak, dance, or to simply watch and relax in the stunning Moorforge Viking Settlement longhouse. Cosy and intimate with great music in a unique viking age building. Please bring refreshments to eat, drink and share.

Please note the new, later start time that we always switch to in the summer, and that there is now a much larger parking and camping area.

If you are one of our regular musicians, or intend to make a significant contribution to the session, please make sure to contact us directly for other arrangements, so we can sort you out with drinks and free camping!

Advance tickets are £12. Available from here...

There are also tickets for overnight camping, at an additional £8.00 per person if you are attending the session. Individual camping tickets are available here...

Please note: online sales will be disabled on, or shortly before, the day of the session.

We recommend buying in advance, to save money and avoid disappointment, but we will also have a limited number of tickets on the door for £15, cash or card, from 19.30.

Moorforge is in a fairly remote site and can be subject to the intemperate whims of our beautiful Cumbrian weather. It can also get a little smoky. Whilst an authentic viking age site, we do everything we can to be as accessible as possible. Please do contact us if you have any needs or queries.

Tickets are non-transferrable, but are refundable if requested earlier than the Wednesday before the session. We have a zero-tolerance policy for antisocial behaviour and behaviour that inhibits others from enjoying the session in a relaxed, safe or comfortable manner. We reserve the right to refuse admittance for any reason. We reserve the right to refuse and refund any of our tickets.

Please: bring a torch or lantern, as well as blankets and cushions as needed. Wear practical and appropriate clothing, and decent boots. Take your rubbish away with you. Be awesome to one another.
