You do not need to be a member to attend.About this EventThis is our spring trail ride. This ride is open to anyone with a Jeep! You do not need to be a member to attend.PLEASE READ EVERYTHING BELOW CAREFULLY!! I know it's a lot, but it's important, need to know information.WHEN AND WHERE:Saturday April 18th from 8:30am-4pm at AOAA located at 4100 PA-125, Coal Township, PA 17866.TICKET INFORMATION:Tickets are per person. EVERYONE NEEDS A TICKET. There is a separate driver and a separate passenger ticket. Anyone who shows up without a ticket will be turned away, this is to insure a smooth check in process and waiver verification. Tickets must include the name of each person attending including all children. Please do not list the same name for all tickets this will cause a delay at check in. You will purchase a ticket for a specific group and trail guide based on the difficulty/trails you want to do that day. There will be NO DAY OF REGISTRATION. All sales are final, sorry, no refunds, event is rain or shine. Each group has a cap set by the guide so buy early, this event will sell out! Ticket sales will end when the event is sold out or the Wednesday before the event, whichever comes first.DRIVER TICKETS:Each Jeep is required to have 1 driver ticket. Driver tickets are $50 per person (+fees) and include the AOAA fees and a donation to the charity. Any passengers with a valid driver's license may also drive, you only need one driver ticket per Jeep, but everyone in the Jeep requires a driver or passenger ticket (including all children).PASSENGERS 7 YEARS AND OLDER TICKETS:All passengers age 7 and older require a passenger ticket. Passenger tickets are $30 per person (+fees) and include the AOAA fees and a donation to the charity. Tickets must include the name of each person attending including all children. Do not list the same name for all tickets, this will cause a delay at check in.PASSENGERS 6 YEARS OLD AND UNDER TICKETS:Children age 6 and under are free, but still require a ticket for waiver purposes. There is a free “Passenger 6 years old and under” ticket available at the bottom of the ticket page on eventbrite.TRAIL/GROUP TYPES:Please do not sign up for a group you are not ready or equipped for. Doing this can potentially cause damage to your Jeep or cause personal injury. Trail guides have the right to move you to a different level group if they feel you or your Jeep is not up to the capabilities of the trails they will be doing.EASY GREEN TRAILS: Good for all Trail-Rated Jeeps, including stock. Dirt trails with some mud and water crossings. Rock size: small to medium. Some loose dirt hills and possible tight passes.MODERATE GREEN & BLUE TRAILS: Good for drivers who have been out a few times but are still learning. Areas with some ruts, mud, & water crossings. Rock size: Small to large. Has some steep inclines and declines. Good variety of trails for an intermediate. Not recommended for stock Jeeps. Recommendations: Lift and oversize tires, winch, and recovery gear.DIFFICULT BLUE TRAILS: Good for drivers who are experienced with off roading. Lots of rocks and deep ruts. Medium to large rocks and ledges, deep water crossings, and steep grades. Requirements: Lift and oversize tires. Recommendations: Lockers, winch, and recovery gear.ADVANCED BLUE & BLACK TRIALS: Good for drivers who are very experienced with off roading and have a built rig. Very steep inclines and declines. Lots of large rocks. Very difficult obstacles. Could result in body damage. Requirements: Lift, oversize tires, winch, and recovery gear. We will also have a donation box the day of for cash only donations.WHEN YOU ARRIVE AT AOAA:You will drive past the entrance to the pavilion area to the overflow parking lot at the back of the parking lot. DO NOT PULL IN AT THE PAVILLION. Upon entering the overflow area someone from J.E.E.P. will be checking you in. Please arrive with a full tank of gas and bring your own packed lunch and non-alcoholic beverages for the day.CHECK IN 8:30am-9:30am:We will check you in right in your Jeep, no need to go to the trailhead. If you arrive early and we are not there, please wait outside the overflow area. We will verify everyone in your Jeep has signed a waiver. Please have everyone, including all passengers, sign the waiver no later than 3 days before the event as we verify the list before the event. If everyone in your Jeep does not have a signed waiver before that date this will delay the check in process. We will then verify the driver's and all the passengers' registration with first and last names, and the group you signed up for. Once you are checked in, we will show you where to line up. You will drive around the back of the event field and line up directly behind your guide. Please be sure to arrive before 9:30am, check in will end at 9:30am sharp.PREPARE YOUR JEEP 8:30am-9:30am:Once you are parked in your group, please immediately prepare your Jeep for the day by putting your Jeep in 4WD Low, airing down your tires, disconnecting sway bars, etc. If you have any questions on how to get ready for the day, please ask your guide, they are there to help.GUIDE MEETING 9:30am-9:45am:All guides will meet together for a quick meeting.DRIVER MEETING 9:45am-10:00am:We will have a short drivers meeting to go over a few details for the day.COOLER CHECK 10:00am-10:15am:After the drivers meeting please return to your Jeep and place your cooler open next to your Jeep so the AOAA staff can inspect it for alcohol. Alcohol is strictly prohibited on the AOAA property. This will save us from having to go through the cattle shoot and get us on the trails faster.HIT THE TRAILS 10:15am-4:00pm(ish):Your guide will go over some important need to know information for the day and you will hit the trails!TRAIL COMMUNICATION:GMRS is the preferred form of communication for all trail guides. It is highly recommended to have a GMRS radio to be able to communicate with others in your group while on the ride. It is strongly recommended to have a radio, but it is not required. What is GMRS? The General Mobile Radio Service (GMRS) is a licensed radio service for short-distance, two-way voice communications using hand-held radios & mobile radios. The Shamokin Area School District has organized a monetary funding drive for a BackPack Program to support the “at risk” students. The BackPack food program provides a bag of nonperishable food to children in need that they can take home and eat when school meal programs are unavailable. These bags are often distributed into children’s backpacks at school to participating children by their teacher as they leave Friday or before a long break. The contents of the bag can vary depending on the food and donations available. The BackPack Program is a great way to get food directly into the hands of children who need it. A child who is ill-equipped to learn because of hunger and poverty is more likely to be poor as an adult. As such, the existence of childhood hunger in the United States threatens future American prosperity.
