- **Event Description**: Join us for some messy drawing and painting! Claire Kennedy will show you how to work with various mediums.About this EventWe are delighted to welcome Claire Kennedy to Clydebank to share her joy of creating art. Claire will show you how to work with a variety of mediums from collage to acrylics.Claire Kennedy is a painter and mixed media artist living in Glasgow. She paints and teaches full time and has exhibited in various galleries throughout Scotland. She works primarily in acrylics, exploring layered and textured effects and often incorporating an image of black and white photography as a final printed layer. When not painting, Claire loves walking her dog Farley and taking photographs of her surroundings. It is usually during those walks, whether in city or countryside, that inspiration strikes for the next series of paintings!‘I am drawn to old things, weathered things, often overlooked things, and the colours and patterns which appear there over time. I work with acrylic paints and photography, scratching, scraping and lifting to reveal hidden and half-hidden layers and colours. I find the process of layering and lifting paint so compelling and almost meditative – the continual adding and subtracting of textures, layers and brushstrokes. And the addition of b&w photography into this altered setting gives an element of surprise which excites me and drives me to paint the next picture.’This class is free but ticketed with support from Museums Galleries Scotland. This venue is fully accessible but if you have any specific needs please don't hesitate to get in touch.
