Join us for this high-energy, family-friendly musical that tells the story of Joseph, his prophetic dreams, and the journey that takes him from his father’s favorite son, to slave, to ruler of Egypt! This dazzling show is packed with catchy songs in a variety of musical styles, from country to calypso to rock ‘n’ roll.
AUDITION DETAILS
-Please prepare a song either from the show or in the style of the show. If you are singing a song that is not from the show, please bring sheet music. An accompanist will be provided.
-Dress to move; a dance/movement audition will be included.
CHARACTER BREAKDOWN:
All roles are open and we welcome performers of all races, ethnicities, gender identities, and experience levels.
Joseph
The central character. A dreamer with a bright spirit and unwavering faith.
Narrator
A storyteller who guides the audience gently through the story of Joseph and his brothers.
Jacob
Joseph’s father and patriarch of the family. Older, kind, and proud of his children—especially Joseph.
The Eleven Brothers
Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Naphtali, Issachar, Asher, Dan, Zebulun, Gad, Benjamin, Judah. A fun and diverse group of personalities.
Potiphar
A powerful, wealthy Egyptian who buys Joseph after he is sold into slavery.
Mrs. Potiphar
A seductive and stylish woman who sets her sights on Joseph.
Pharaoh
The Elvis-style ruler of Egypt. Showy, charismatic, and commanding.
Baker & Butler
Two fellow prisoners with Joseph who turn to him to interpret their strange dreams.
Children’s Choir
A chorus of young performers who help narrate the story alongside the adult cast. Must have strong singing ability and focus. Preferably ages 8-13.
Ensemble
Villagers, Egyptians, Handmaidens, Servants, Prisoners, and more. Plenty of stage time, dancing, and featured vocal moments. All voice parts welcome.
