- **Event Description**: The Knockmealdown Mountains are a mountain range located on the border of counties South Tipperary and Waterford in Ireland, running east and west between the two counties. The highest peak of the range is Knockmealdown 794m, situated in County Waterford. On the western side of the summit, the range is crossed by a high pass through which runs the old mail coach road from Lismore to Clogheen
The Route:
Our summit loop hike will follow the classic Glenmoylan route which commences at The Vee car park and ascends steeply to our first summit of Sugarloaf Hill 663m. We then make our way up to the summit Trig of Knockmealdown, the highest peak in Co Waterford. Then its onward to our final summit of Knockmoylan 768m before we  commence our descent northward via the Knockshane spur to complete the loop back to our cars at The Vee

Meet at The Vee Pass Car park at 9;30am
Distance of approximately 13kms
Estimated time 6.5 hours. 

Difficulty Level: This is a tough and strenuous hike and requires a good level of fitness.

Cost 45 Euro.

Good waterproof boots and waterproof clothing are essential; hiking trousers are advised, (no jeans please); spare warm layer; hat and gloves; lunch and/or snacks; water or juice drink, (Minimum 1.5 litres); small rucksack to carry it all in.
