- **Event Description**: Saving Ourselves Deep Dive is an 8-hour continuing education course designed to increase awareness of mental health challenges in first responders and provide practical strategies for early recognition, peer support, and stress management.

‘Saving Ourselves’ is intended for Emergency Medical Technicians, Advanced EMTs, Paramedics, Firefighters, Law Enforcement Officers, and other first responders. 

This course was created and is instructed by Brad Lawson, author of Dancing with Darkness: A First Responder's Fight For Light. Created for first responders by a first responder, Lawson is a 26-year EMS veteran and former U.S. Army combat medical specialist whose goal through the course is to break down the walls of silence, shame, and stigma that surround mental health in public safety.

Content is based on operational experience, current industry data, and accepted practices in responder wellness and peer support- specifically designed for all first responders who want to survive the job and thrive beyond it.

Instruction includes lecture, facilitated discussion, and scenario based group activities. Emphasis is placed on identifying behavioral health risks, improving communication between peers, and promoting early intervention strategies within EMS systems.

Through real stories, hard-earned lessons, and practical tools, participants will learn how to build resilience, recognize the effects of cumulative stress, and ways to take care without sacrificing commitment to serving others
