Spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and once all 12 spots are claimed, registration is CLOSED! ? To enter, email: randi@accessmissoula.com Your entry is not reserved until your registration has been confirmed. ?️ CONTESTANT RULES ENTRY • Entry is completely FREE. • The competition is limited to 12 chili entries. • Registration is first-come, first-served. Once all 12 spots are filled, entries are closed. • Contestants must register in advance by emailing randi@accessmissoula.com. • One chili entry per contestant/team. • All styles of chili are welcome — traditional, spicy, mild, white/chicken, wild game, vegetarian and more. • Contestants must bring at least 1 gallon of chili for judging and public tasting. • Chili must arrive prepared and ready to keep hot and serve. WHAT CONTESTANTS NEED TO BRING • At least 1 gallon of your chili • Crock-Pot, slow cooker, roaster or other approved method for keeping it hot • Serving ladle • Any special toppings or garnishes you want served with your chili • A list of ingredients and common allergens contained in your chili Rock Creek Lodge will provide the tasting supplies, tables and voting materials. ⏰ CONTESTANT CHECK-IN Contestants MUST check in between 1:00 PM and 1:30 PM. This gives everyone time to get checked in, receive their competition number and have their chili station completely set up before judging and public tasting begin. ?️ The Chili Cook-Off officially begins at 2:00 PM! Each chili will receive a competition number at check-in. ? OFFICIAL JUDGING Official judging will be BLIND — judges will receive numbered samples and will not know who prepared each chili. Each chili will be scored on: ?️ Overall Flavor — 20 points ?️ Seasoning & Balance — 10 points ?️ Texture & Consistency — 10 points ?️ Aroma — 5 points ?️ Appearance — 5 points 50 points possible per judge. Scores from all official judges will be combined to determine 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. ? Hottest Chili and ? Most Creative Chili will be selected separately by the judges and will not affect the overall Judges’ Choice score. In the event of a tie, the chili with the highest combined Overall Flavor score will win the tiebreaker. ❤️ PEOPLE’S CHOICE This one is up to YOU! Beginning at 2:00 PM, everyone attending will have the opportunity to sample the competing chilies for FREE and cast one vote for their favorite. The chili receiving the most votes will be crowned our: ❤️ PEOPLE’S CHOICE CHAMPION! Contestants may encourage everyone to try their chili, but no stuffing the ballot box! One person = one vote. ? ? BUILD THE PRIZE POT! There is NO charge to taste the chili.
