Join Canalway in the Louis Stokes Wing, 2nd Floor Learning Commons for enlightening and entertaining discussions.Come for one or all of the following presentations:11 a.m.: John Vacha will share details from his latest book “Playhouse Square and the Cleveland Renaissance,” a comprehensive account of Playhouse Square history from the 1921 opening and the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on the theaters.12:30 p.m.: The Cleveland Public Library holdings aren’t limited to books. Join staff for a tour of the Main Library and explore the collections of maps, games, and architecture features of the 100-year-old building.2 p.m.: D.M. Pulley, is a professional engineer who has rehabbed historic structures as well as an accomplished fiction author, whose stories are based on her knowledge of Cleveland’s historic sites and local history. She will discuss how her professional experience in historic preservation influenced her non-fiction work.3 p.m.: Long-time collaborators John Grabowski and Lauren Pacini will preview “Empire Builders” which covers the rise of brothers Oris P. and Mantis J. Van Sweringen who built Cleveland’s Terminal Tower and the commuter railway system to connect Cleveland and the suburb, Shaker Heights.This event is part of Cleveland History Days, a week-long celebration of our city’s rich legacy presented by Canalway Partners.
