Blacksmithing for Kids - Summer Camp Series

Blacksmithing for Kids - Summer Camp Series

This 3 day Summer Camp Series for kids at Cleveland Blacksmithing, located in Cleveland's historic neighborhood of Ohio City, will guide students ages 12+ through a series of projects designed to provide fundamental instruction in the skill of ornamental Blacksmithing. We will focus on manipulating metal with heat and force. Students will have a hands-on learning experience, feeling the weight of the hammer, learning correct technique, practicing how to mold and shape metal, understanding how to use tools and safety gear, and learning how to properly heat metal.

Lessons will include mathematics, engineering, history, architecture, science, art, design - and fun. That’s right Blacksmiths were STEAM before it was cool! Students will keep items that they create, come away with unique memories and skills to boot. Parents, you will need to sign-in your child on the first day, but you are free to leave once we get started.
