- **Event Description**: This combination blues and bal workshop is perfect for beginner dances or intermediate dancers looking to expand their styles. And if you're planning to attend our weekend with Dan Repsch, this will definitely help you get ready! Come learn about connection in partner dancing, basics, and build up to some fanciers moves with this two hour workshop. Dancers should be come in comfortable clothes with shoes that provide little to no resistance on the dance floor. This is at a NEW location in the Cleveland Heights Rec Center. $20 admission, $15 for students and seniors with ID.

Rita has been dancing blues for 14 yeras. She's had the pleasure of dancing all over the country and attending events from Atlanta, to Austin, to Seattle with some of the best blues instructors in the world. She has a passion for dancing and started her own college dance club at West Liberty University. She also started and ran "The Social" in Atlanta for four years. And now, she is helping run and teach blues dance at our beloved Burning River Blues since 2023 here in Cleveland.

Deanna came to swing dancing through a love of jazz music and some experience tap dancing. She stumbled across social swing dancing through some friends around 2012. Learning mostly on the social floor and in friends' living rooms, she started with Lindy Hop, East Coast, and a smidgen of Charleston, and when she was eventually introduced to Balboa, it became a fast favorite.  She loves how it emphasizes the intricacies of micro-movements and communication between partners, how it makes fast jazz music accessible for the dance floor, and the sweetness of slow balboa.  Since, she has enjoyed more formal lessons, traveling around to regional events, and meeting the larger swing dance community in the US and Canada. Within her local dance scene, Deanna is passionate about creating a welcoming community where everyone engage, no matter their experience or background.
