Across 2018 and 2019, Nurit and the WVA team completed research at Montauk, the home of Governor William Larrabee and family. Constructed in 1874, Montauk reflects history, architecture, and archaeology at the height of the Gilded Age.  Join Nurit to learn about recent research at the site and details not just about the mansion but also about the Larrabee family, their servants and the working farm that was also Montauk.  Additionally, Nurit will share information regarding the historical significance of the site and why it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.  

This presentation is open to the public and is sponsored by the Iowa Department of Transportation in honor of the semiquincentennial anniversary of the United States of America (A250) activities in 2026.
