About the event

Myla's Twilight Walk πŸ’œ
πŸŽ—οΈBrain Tumour Awareness Month πŸŽ—οΈ

March is brain tumour awareness month. Brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under 40, yet less that 2% of cancer research funding goes towards finding better treatments and ultimately a cure.

This year the Brain Tumour Charity are holding a Twilight Walk. Myla would have loved this, so I'm holding my own in memory of Myla at her favourite place...The Beach!

πŸ’œ Location: Starting point is the Pavilion behind Oriental Express. Starting Boating Lake as big car park.
πŸ’œ Date: Friday 20th March.
πŸ’œ Time: Meet 6pm, walk to start 6.15pm.
πŸ’œ Distance: 5km, Boating Lake to Wonderland and back.
πŸ’œ Entry: A donation to the just giving page to help research for Brain Tumours.
πŸ’œ Theme: Lets light up the beach, glow sticks, light up headbands, wands, etc. I know she will be there walking with us.

I have personally reached out to the Brain Tumour Charity myself saying about our own walk. They've replied the following stating where the money donated goes:
"We fund three main things at The Brain Tumour Charity: research into brain tumours, our support services and our campaigning/awareness work. Our mission is to make sure that everyone with a brain tumour can live a longer, better life by funding research into pioneering and kinder treatments, as well as fighting for faster diagnosis and making sure that families get the support they need.

We rely entirely on voluntary donations and around 50p in every Β£1 donated is invested in world-class research, with 80p in every Β£1 going towards our charitable objectives. We aim to fund research into all tumour types, so both adult and paediatric, low-grade and high-grade brain tumours. We use a rigorous peer review process to make sure that we’re only funding effective research that will benefit the brain tumour community most"

Myla was diagnosed with a Diffuse Midline Glioma. This is very very rare and I still don't understand how she got it. But there are some projects research being done which I can link here:

Place for refreshments to be confirmed afterwards if wanted to join and keeps Myla's memory alive. I just need to know rough interest for this event to determine where we go afterwards. Have a few places in mind.

Thank you for being on this group, keeping Myla's legacy alive. She meant the absolute world to me and I'll forever do events in her memory πŸ’œ
