Recruited by Detective Chief Inspector Thomas Nightingale (the last wizard in Britain), Peter becomes an apprentice in a secret branch of the Metropolitan Police that handles supernatural crimes. As he learns magic, he investigates a series of bizarre killings and navigates a city populated by spirits, river gods, and other magical beings. 

Blending crime procedural with fantasy, the story centres on Peter’s efforts to solve the murders while uncovering a deeper magical conspiracy beneath London’s familiar streets.
