Pat graduated from Lawton High School in Lawton, Oklahoma, in 1966 and earned her bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University in 1970. She answered her calling as an educator, dedicating more than 30 years to teaching mathematics in the Cleburne Independent School District. Throughout her distinguished career, she taught at Cleburne Junior High School, Cleburne High School, Cleburne TEAMS School and Hill college. Her patience, compassion, and commitment to excellence inspired generations of students. A gifted educator, Pat received multiple Teacher of the Year awards, but her greatest reward was seeing her students grow in confidence and achieve success. On December 23, 1973, Pat married the love of her life, David Cantrell. Together they built a life rooted in faith, love, and family. Their marriage was a beautiful example of devotion and partnership, and they shared more than 52 years of memories together. Pat’s greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, faithful friend, and dedicated member of St. Mark United Methodist Church. Her unwavering faith guided every aspect of her life. Whether she was teaching a lesson, encouraging a friend, or spending time with those she loved, Pat made people feel welcomed, valued, and cared for. Her gentle spirit, generous heart, and quiet strength will be remembered by all who knew her. In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David Cantrell; her precious granddaughter, Izabella; her sister, Peggy (Harsh) Phelps; her brother, James Harsh; and her brother-in-law, Ted Phelps. She is lovingly survived by her sons, John Cantrell and Chris Cantrell; her daughter-in-laws, Kristen Cantrell and Dawn Cantrell; her cherished grandchildren, Cash, Makale, and Stella; her sister-in-law, Debra Harsh; her nephews, Kevin (Diane) White and Joseph (Johanna) Harsh; her niece, Laura Mandy; and many extended family members, lifelong friends, former students, and colleagues whose lives were forever enriched by knowing her. Pat chose cremation. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at St. Mark United Methodist Church, 1109 W. Henderson Street, Cleburne, Texas 76033. Pastor Wayne Walters will officiate the service. Following the memorial service, Pat’s ashes will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, David Cantrell, at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. The family welcomes floral tributes, which may be arranged through Cleburne Floral. In lieu of, or in addition to, flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mark United Methodist Church in Patricia Cantrell’s memory. Pat’s legacy is one of faith, education, compassion, and unconditional love. She shaped countless lives through her work as a teacher and mentor, and she leaves behind a family who will forever cherish her love, wisdom, and example.
