TheatreFor and director Mike Cote are excited to announce auditions for their upcoming production of “A Steady Rain” by Keith Huff.
Dates for the audition are at TheatreFor, 1863 N Highland Ave. Sunday, December 14 at 6 pm and Tuesday, December 16 at 6:30 pm. Please prepare a one-minute contemporary dramatic monologue to be combined with cold readings from the script. Please bring a head shot and resume.
“A Steady Rain” is a dark, duologue filled story with sharp storytelling and biting repartee. It explores the complexities of a lifelong bond tainted by domestic affairs, violence, and the rough streets of Chicago. Joey and Denny have been best friends since kindergarten, and after working together for several years as policemen in Chicago, they are practically family: Joey helps with Denny's wife and kids; Denny keeps Joey away from the bottle. But when a domestic disturbance call takes a turn for the worse, their friendship is put on the line. The result is a harrowing journey into a morally gray area where trust and loyalty struggle for survival against a sobering backdrop of pimps, prostitutes, and criminal low-life’s.
“A Steady Rain” is a dramatic, and at times, darkly comedic tour de force for two male
performers. The show will run for 9 performances, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, opening on March 13 and closing on March 29. These are paid, non-equity positions.
