The first of North Carolina's Educational State Forests, Clemmons opened in 1976 in Johnston County. Featuring self-guided trails and exhibits, as well as Ranger-conducted classes, the forest offers a wealth of experiences for the senses and the mind.
Located between the Piedmont and the Coastal Plain, Clemmons' pine stands and hardwoods are set on a pleasant rolling terrain highlighted by streams and rock formations.  These features are accessible by a series of well-marked trails, accented by exhibits and displays depicting the ecology of a managed forest.

Remember, this does not necessarily have to be a Unit event…please spread the word to our Scouting families and promote the hikes as “family events”!  All you need to bring is a good pair of walking shoes, plenty of water and your enthusiasm.  Nature will provide the rest! We hope to see you on the trail. Rain or shine!
