Author, science teacher and dancer Airini Beautrais will read from her books and talk about the multiplicity of her writing, and her life.
She will also lead a free workshop on writing the short forms - short story, micro-essay/fiction, prose poem.

Airini Beautrais has won several writing prizes. The 'weird, eerie and mordantly funny' stories of 'Bug Week' won NZ's top fiction prize, the Jann Medlicott Acorn Prize. 'Secret Heart' won best First Book of Poetry. Beautrais was also awarded the Landfall Essay Prize. Her latest book 'The Beautiful Afternoon' was longlisted for an Ockham; the essays explore sea hags, beauty products, Dante, tarot, swimwear, pole dancing, Quakerism, Star Wars and more.
